Peter Kivits

My name is Peter Kivits, 55 years old, I'm living in Breda and I'm a fairly fanatical cyclist. One of my favorite sayings is: Life is all about making choices. When they came up with the plan of B4C my first toughts were: “those people are crazy”. And actually I still think that way, but it's a “once in your lifetime” happening and that makes the decision a lot easier. B4C speaks for itself, to accomplish a competitive performance, with in the back of your mind, at the same time, trying to give children a better future. I'm working with a team to realize the tour, you have to think of routing, overnight stayings and support and care during the tour. Besides that we are training to get in shape for this event. We are taking up this challenge to put down a sporty exploit with this team, but we can only succeed when you as a sponsor or contributer have helped us. So please don't hasitate and support us.

Gerard van Kastel

Gerard van Kastel

Hello, my name is Gerard van Kastel, 47 years old, father of three kids. I have experienced, trough the cardiac abnormality of my second daughter, how it is to deal with a child that is seriously ill. Fortunatly she has made a full recovery, but in the childrens hospital in Rotterdam there are far too many young children suffering from one or the other form of cancer. That was one good reason to take part in this monstrous tour.

After visiting Romania a couple of times, for me it became obvious, that children with a disability are left at the post. They are kept hidden and are forgotten. Luckily there are still some people who care about these children. So that was another good reason to participate.

And now, with my wife being diagnosed with cancer, it all becomes more than just a couple of good reasons. It may be clear that I will try harder than ever to finish this tour and by doing so (with your help) raise as much funds as possible for KiKa and Peter Pan. These children have a day to day struggle for life. Let us all lighten their battle and support this initiative (many thanks in advance)

Michael de Boer

With this means I would like to introduce myself, my name is Michael de Boer and I'm one of the cyclists of the Bike4Children tour. In this tour we will ride 2000 kilometers in 10 days, from Raamsdonksveer in the Netherlands to Cluj-Napoca in Romania under the guidance of a supporting team. With our participation in B4C we would like to make a contribution to KIKA in their fight against childrens cancer, as wel as a contribution to the Peter Pan foundation. The achievement in this tour is nothing compaired to the combat children with cancer have to deal with, furthermore for children in poor countries, especially those with a handicap, it is almost inpossible to fulfil their dreams. We can help these children in their struggle by riding this tour. All donations will be fully and equally devided over these two good and beautiful causes.

Bram Lanser

My name is Bram Lanser, I have two kids and live in Ermelo. Sometime ago I was approached by CSi because they planned to cycle to Romania. As they explained I thought you have to be just a wee bit bonkers as it is approximately 2000km in a 10 day ride, the only positive side of the story; it’s for charity.! I have travelled to Romania a few times for CSi and have witnessed a small part of the poverty. I was hooked instantly as they told me it would be a fund raising tour for the KIKA and the Peter Pan foundation. Considering and elaborating with my family the outcome was unanimous “ you must be nuts but go for it”. My reasons for joining are simple, it is an once in a life time challenge and I will be supporting the KIKA and the Peter Pan foundation at the same time. It is up to us so we are all in training to meet and beat this challenge together. Greets Bram Lanser

Toon de Clercq

Hi my name is Toon de Clercq. I have been planning a big tour for quite some time and the first thing that came to mind was the “Santiago de Compostela” because a friend of mine was walking around with the same idea. Riding through France and Spain appealed to us both but organising a trip of that magnitude was a bit too large for our drinks The first time I heard about this trip too Romania I wasn’t very enthusiastic, First of all it was too far and in the wrong direction But when I heard that the basis was raising funds for the KIKA and the Peter Pan foundation I changed my mind soon. Due to the methodical approach of the organisation I got more enthusiastic by the day and when finally Mrs de Clercq agreed on me going {that’s where it all come down too does n’t it ?) I was eager to go But riding 2000 km when 53 years of age and that in 10 days?? It’s quite a lot, certainly when the average age is about 10 years younger. I am in training (See picture).

Jan Koks

Hello , I am Jan Koks, 57 years young and I live in Breda. I am the proud father of three lovely daughters and recently became the grandfather of Jens. For a couple of years I have been travelling to the Alpe d’Huez with this group of enthusiast cyclists to cylcle around the mount for a few days. I have also cycled the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan and in Nepal together with Guus. To me this trip to Romania is a real challenge and very important to me is the fact that we are cycling to raise funds for charity.
My motto is: “Everything 4 cycling and everything 4 our youth“

Henk Duijzer

My name Henk Duijzer, 49 years old, married and father of 5 children. Cycling is a passion of mine and it’s the one sport I have practiced longest. Apart from the daily trip from home to work I have done quite some daytrips with the Csi team, not to mention our l’Alpe d’Huez weekend and the Marmatton trip. Every month I am in Romania for a week and I have come to know many of our Romanian colleagues. That and the fact that I am quite involved in the Peter Pan foundation have made me realize what need there is in Romania. In our family, among the people we know and among colleagues we are confronted with illnesses more and more, and often it’s cancer. Makes you feel helpless. So when I heard about this challenging trip I didn’t need to think twice. Could I have declined? Of course not! I will face up to this challenge, to be sure! Now I can stake myself and my passion to make something happen for others. Our enthusiasm and vigour and your financial support will make things happen! Cluj-Napoca here we come.
Yes, this bicycle will make things happen.

Theo Stevens

I am Theo Stevens, born 1950 so this year I’ll be……I live in Harderwijk and am married too Janny. We have a son and daughter who both love sports. I have been into endurance sports for quite some years and love to combine running and cycling. I have done a few triathlons for a couple of years. During my holidays I love to cycle Europe with Janny all the way to the Mediterranean. Italy and Norway. Besides that I try to join the team CSi Improving Performance on tours as much as possible. In Cluj together with Gerard we came up with the idea too cycle to Romania. This crazy idea was supported by our colleagues immediately. They became so enthusiastic that a task group was set up too find sponsors and raise funds for charities for kids in the Netherlands and in Romania. Unfortunately I broke my upper arm on a skiing trip so joining my colleagues is not yet certain. With some screws and a splint dr. Eversdijk in the hospital of Harderwijk was able to put me together again. Together with my physiotherapist I am in training to get my shoulder back into shape At the moment I am working out to get back into shape and have great hope of joining anyway, so don’t give up.

Lennart Duijzer

My name is Lennart Duijzer, I am 26 years old and live in a small village called Veen. The first time I heard what Bike4children really meant I was thrilled, however cycling 2000km in just 10 days seams unrealistic. Yet I am willing to accept the challenge. This is the ultimate way to utilise sports for charity. While we are cycling “fighting” our way to reach Cluj-Napoca many kids are struggling and “fighting” either cancer and or poverty. Via Bike4children we can contribute the KIKA and the Peter Pan foundation, the one helping and easing the pain of kids with cancer, the other supporting a school for disabled kids. So please help us turn this venture into a great success and contribute your funds.
Greetings, Lennart
