Published on 01/04/2010 Dear participants and others involved. At a team presentation of race cycling club ”de Jonge renner” I heard all about the idea of cycling 2000km in 10 days. The objective: KIKA “Cancer free for kids” and the Peter Pan foundation durable projects in Romania. All for youth, our future. It appears to be group of enthusiast people that have been doing the preparations for quite a while. Selecting participants, finding sponsors and taking care of communications and displaying the whole idea to gather as much funds as possible. Something beautiful does not just present itself, it takes a lot of hard work and determination These are the basic elements that even top sport cannot do without. During my carrier have known heartaches, pulling through during hard times, working out when I didn’t feel like it and resisting all temptations our society has to offer. Abroad often not that far away all the above mentioned hardships are daily challenges. Charities for kids usually open you up. It is so satisfying when 4 of your own healthy brats are doing well, have fun and can just be kids as long as possible. Obviously you wish the same for all other children! Bike4childeren is a success already, just trying to get all participants over the finish line is a major challenge. This calls for teamwork, taking each other into account, biting the dust and enjoying the trip. Sports reconciles , at night looking back on the day the tall stories will ease the pain and recovery will take place during a good night’s rest. The total revenue is important but the fact that we take care of each other and give thought to one is something to be cherished. This will give confidence in the future knowing that one is not alone. I congratulate you all with this great gesture and wish you all the best of luck on this venture, ride safely and bring back lots of spoils. Please support this venture and respect this brave challenge! Sporty greetings Mathieu Hermans
